Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen veins in the anus and lower rectum. Symptoms include palpable cushion, sometimes pain, itching, and bleeding during bowel movements. Piles can be caused by straining during bowel movements, chronic constipation, and pregnancy. Treatment options include increasing fiber in the diet, using over-the-counter creams, and taking warm baths to relieve pain. In more severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the Piles. These surgical options include rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, and hemorrhoidectomy. In rare cases, a surgical procedure called stapling may be used to block the blood flow to the Piles, causing them to shrink. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional if you suspect you have Piles to determine the best treatment plan for you.
